Requesting Tenant Refreshes

A tenant refresh is where a non-production tenant (the 'target' tenant) is reset and synchronised with a production tenant. This effectively generates a snapshot of a production tenant (including all data and schema) that can be used for:

  • developing and modifying solutions
  • testing and trouble shooting

Standard Maintenance & Support allows customers up to 2 tenant refreshes per month free-of-charge with a minimum of 3 days notice to ReadiNow. Note that tenant refreshes are applicable to non-production tenants only.

Please review the information below for things to consider prior to requesting a tenant refresh, actions to take after the refresh has been completed, and for how to request a tenant refresh.

Checklist: prior to requesting a tenant refresh

A tenant refresh causes the target tenant to be overwritten and is irreversible and can impact other users. Prior to requesting a tenant refresh please check:

  • Is anyone currently using the target tenant?
    • if yes, seek agreement on when they will be ready for a refresh
  • Does the target tenant contain data or users that need be preserved?
    • if yes, identify data to be retained and export via XML
  • Does the target tenant have special integrations that need to be preserved (e.g. API, SSO)
    • If yes, export via XML or record settings
  • Are communications disabled or is an email forwarding address used in email settings
    • if yes, record settings and email address

Post Refresh (on Tenant that has been refreshed)

You will a receive notification from ReadiNow once your tenant refresh request has been actioned. It is important that you check the following on the refreshed tenant:

  • Check Settings -> Communications will be disabled
    • manually reenable if required
  • Check Settings -> API Callouts - will be enabled / disabled as per the production tenant. To disable API Callouts:
    • enable communications (temporary)
    • disable API callout
    • disable communications
  • Import any XML configuration data that was captured prior to the tenant refresh
    • API Callout libraries
    • API Credentials
    • SSO Settings
    • Test Data
    • Test Users
  • Update email forwarding address

How to request a tenant refresh

Tenant refreshes can be requested via ReadiService, the ReadiNow Service Desk. Please create a ticket with the title "Tenant Refresh" and in the ticket description clearly indicated the 'source' (i.e. a production tenant) and 'target' (i.e. a non-production tenant).
